Title

CMS Cadet Contact Comments

Body

Every good comment will have up to five parts: CONTACT, INTEREST LEVEL, UNIT QUALIFICATION, APPLICATION, and RECRUITING PROGRAMS

“After multiple efforts still unable to contact by phone, email, facebook, and mail.”

“Unable contact by phone but made contact on facebook.  He is now a will join.  Still interested in NROTC and Engineering.  Completed application but checking why high school transcript is not showing up on on-line.  Told me he registered on-line for SNWC on 30 Nov.”

CONTACT

The success of Corps recruiting depends on every cadet taking an active part in contacting prospects.  While the contact requirement is once a month, I would hope that most cadets are more active than this and use the comments to describe their monthly contact efforts and results.  Please be more descriptive than “i dun did it.”  I do not need to know the time and date of every call.  Just because you make one wrong number call, no answer call, get a busy signal, or leave a message your job is not done.  Follow up busy signals and messages.  If you cannot make contact by phone try email.  Follow up on emails and check for a read receipt.  If no reply to email or your email bounces back try to find the prospect on facebook.  In some cases we have given you hometown and high school to help narrow your search.  If you cannot make contact by facebook send prospect a letter or postcard asking for contact information.  If every contact effort fails, add the comment “After multiple efforts still unable to contact by phone, email, facebook, and mail.”  Then mark the prospect as WNJ.

INTEREST LEVEL

We classify prospects as either will not join (WNJ), interested (INT), probable join (PJ), or will join (WJ).  When you make contact you should try to determine if their interest level has changed and add this to the comments (Example: “Changed interest level from INT to WJ”).

UNIT QUALIFICATION

You need to make sure they are still a candidate for your outfit.  Are they still interested in the band? Are they still interested in your outfit ROTC?  Are they still a tech or non-tech major?  If these have changed add this to the comments (Example:  “Changed interest to AFROTC and now looking at non-tech major.  Move to another outfit”).  This will notify the recruiting staff to move this prospect to another outfit.  Holding on to this prospect will only hurt your outfit because new prospects are allocated to outfit based on number of currently assigned prospects.

APPLICATION

You need to encourage prospects to complete their TAMU application by 15 Jan 10.  Application status is included with prospect information.  They may have asked their high school counselor to send a transcript but something could have happened.  They could have marked the wrong school code for SAT scores.  Make sure they verify on-line at TAMU that their application is complete.

RECRUITING PROGRAMS

If they are qualified, you need to encourage prospects to sign up on-line at www.aggiecorps.org for one of our recruiting programs; Aggie Eagles (too late this semester), JCAP, 4H/FFA or SNWC.
