Obstacle Course

 

Teams

1.                  Each outfit must field an upperclassman team and a fish team

2.                  Each team will consist of 5 people

a.       Outfits unable to meet the 5 on their freshman team must field as many as are medically able

b.      If the 5 cannot be provided then the other people will have to run until the course has been completed 5 times.

 

      3.          Each team will provide their own spotters.

 

Course

1.                  Each individual must touch dirt in between each obstacle

2.                  After executing the course, the runner must sprint back to the beginning

3.                  Fish will run the left side of the O-Course

4.                  Full BDUs or ACUs must remain on at all times

 

Timing & Scoring

1.                  Time will begin when the starting line official says “Go”

2.                  When the first runner makes it back to the start, the next runner will go, and continue like this till all have gone

3.                  Timing will end when the final runner makes it back and crosses the starting line

 

Penalties

1.                  Each obstacle that is not correctly negotiated will result in a 15 second penalty

2.                  Failure to make it to the top of the rope will result in a 45 second penalty

 

O-Course Staff Responsibilities:

Staff Procedures:

  • Have one individual for timing the O-Course for the Upperclassmen
  • Have one individual timing the O-Course for the fish
  • Two staff members will be available to follow each cadet running the O-Course to ensure that the person executes the obstacles properly and safely
    • Once the person they are grading finishes the course he will run back to the beginning and grade the next participant
    • He will mark down any penalties that occur along the way
  • The Major Unit whose outfits are running the course will not grade them; instead the Unit they are paired with will perform the actual grading.
    • The other Major Unit will assist as the needed
  • Once finished the two Major Units will switch responsibilities

 

 

Staff Responsibilities:

 

  • Brief your major unit on the course they will be running prior to them going out there
  • Brief your staff on the course and what they will be in charge of doing
  • Please notify your staff a day in advance if you want them to help staff
  • Bring back all clipboards and papers to Julien Petit (2-123)
  • Each Major Unit will be responsible to provide water for the outfits in their unit. The individual teams can also bring water.
