II.    MISSON

A.    The Corps of Cadets will travel to Austin and conduct a march-in parade at 1300 hours on Thursday, 27 November, 2008 IOT support our team and demonstrate the Aggie spirit.

 Phase 1

College station to the parking area

-          Maps from major cities are included below

Reccomended leave time for cadets from college station is 0930 hrs

-          Upon arrival in Austin, cadets can exit going south on I-35 at exits 234C through 233.  After exiting, head East towards Congress, and then South till you cross the Colorado River Bridge and hit East Riverside St.  If you are already south of the bridge, head North on Congress

-          There are direction links provided below this table.

-          The parking lots at the Texas Department of Transportation Building, (TXDOT), along with the other circled buildings on the map will be our designated parking area.  The addresses for these buildings are: 118,150,200 East River Side Dr.  ONLY PARK IN THOSE SPOTS

-     College Station to Austin

 

Phase 2

Parking area to Assembly Area

-          Cadets will move from their parking places to the Assembly Area located in the parking lot of the TX DOT Building, The Corps will assemble within the parking lot itself. 

-          The TX DOT Building is located south of the Congress St. Bridge on the East side of Congress on your map

Assembly area to end of March-In

-     The Corps will form up as indicated by the satellite image below, with the band, Corps Staff, and Colorguard forming up on Congress Ave  at 1250.

-     Corps Staff will step off from the TX DOT parking at 1300, and take a right on Congress Avenue.  The Corps will march north on Congress and pass the Colorado River heading for the Capital.  The reviewing stand will be located on the corner of 7th St. and Congress.  The Corps with then march towards the capital gates and break at the steps of the capital.

B.     COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS

                                                              i.      UNIFORM

-          Midnights with medals

-          Garrison Covers

-          COs & Staffs will wear Sam Browne’s w/ Sabers & white gloves

-          Guidons will wear white gloves

-          Female cadets will wear trousers

-          Inclement Weather: Service cover w/ rain cover & rain coat

-          Aggie Rings should not be seen when wearing gloves

-          WALLETS WILL NOT BE WORN

-          Notes about uniform wear:

a.       Do not change in nearby restaurants/buildings

b.      Do not change in the parking lot

c.       Do not remove ties, shirts, or other uniform parts

d.      Do not wear sunglasses

e.       Do change in your vehicle or elsewhere before coming

f.       Check the IG page of CMS for a list of authorized medals

C.     RISK MANAGEMENT:

                                                              i.      TRANSPORTATION:

-          Once cadets have arrived in Austin, the drivers should contact their CO to ensure accountability of all vehicles.

-          Any incidents that occur while traveling to Austin or returning to College Station should be communicated to their CO immediately. 

                                                            ii.      PERSONAL ITEMS:

-          Personal items should be secured once cadets arrive at the assembly area.  Six years ago, a pair of senior boots was stolen from a vehicle at the tu game.  Make sure all of your items are hidden or secured if you leave them in your car, or have a buddy take them home.

                                                          iii.      ALCOHOL:

-          The alcohol policy is still in effect in Austin

-          The Alcohol Policy states that no Cadet should be consuming alcohol 12 hours prior to performing a duty or representing the Corps (pg 163, paragraph 2 of the Standard)

-          Additionally, ALCOHOL WILL NOT BE CONSUMED WHILE IN UNIFORM

-          BE SMART!!!  Drinking and Driving or showing up intoxicated will not be tolerated

 

IV. SERVICE SUPPORT

A.    MEDICAL:    Advise cadets to hydrate

B.     SUPPLY:        The following is a checklist of recommended & required items to bring/wear to the march-in

-          Midnights Garrison Cover

-          Rank/AMUs

-          Corps Brass

-          Name Tag

-          Unit Shields

-          Midnights Trousers

-          Khaki Tie

-          Belt

-          Belt Buckle w/ stack

-          Black socks

-          Low Quarters

-          Shirt stays/Suck strap

-          Rain Coat

-          Service Cover w/ Rain Cover

-          Undershirt

-          Long Sleeve Undershirt (in case of cold weather)

-          Medals

-          White Gloves (for Guidons or Seniors w/ a Sam Browne)

                                                            ii.      Seniors Also Bring:    

-          Boots

-          Spurs

-          Boot Pulls

-          Sam Brownes

-          Sabers

                                                          iii.      Additional Items (Recommended):

-          ID Cards w/ Picture

-          Football Tickets (if you have them)

-          Shoe/boot polish

-          Polish rag

-          Brasso, Windex, etc.

C.     TRANSPORTATION

                                                              i.      Cadets are responsible for their own transportation unless they’ve signed up for a bus

-          Busses meet behind Duncan at the time specified above.  Do not be late

-          Bus location post march-in will be specified by the bus drivers before getting off the bus

 

D.    ATTENDENCE

                                                              i.      Participation in the march-in is MANDATORY for all cadets

                                                            ii.      If you live 300+ miles from College Station and cannot make it to the march-in:

-          Send a military letter up to your major unit commander requesting to miss the march-in
